Hāmākua Coast
Ka‘ahakini Stream Bridge on Old Māmalahoa Highway in Hakalau along the Hāmākua Coast will be closed to reinforce the support beams on April 22, weather permitting. The bridge will close for 24 hours and could remain closed until April 26, depending on the extent of the work.
Motorists should use Hawai‘i Belt Highway to access KoleKole Beach County Park or Chin Chuck Road. Ka‘ahakini Stream Bridge built in 1929 is one two concrete bridges on Old Māmalahoa Highway.
The $14,000 contract was awarded to DeLima’s Drilling Inc. for this bridge.
Puna
The first wooden bridge on North Oshiro Rd in Mountain View will be repaired Tuesday, April 30 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., weather permitting. The Department of Public Works, Building division is replacing the wooden planks.
The bridge will remain open during the repairs, and motorists should plan on 10-minute or longer delays.
